Me, hubby and the kids had a glorious sleep in until 6.30 this morning. So I feel like today will indeed be magical. Please tell me I'm not the only one whose kids regularly wake in the 5's? The early 5's 😳...

There are people who make clothes for kids, and then there is @talkingred.
She is the Gorman of the kids world, and knows that parents want bright colour and great design in their kid clothes as much as they do in their grown-up ones.
What's even greater about this dress, is the surface pattern is by another fabulous talent, kim from @zonktdesigns! Best.collab.ever. #gushgushgush#tdpgraduates
Severe FOMO. I would love to be at @bigdesignmarket tonight buying all the things and visiting my girl @electric_confetti. But instead I'm building my website 💻
Because - do your best Al Pacino voice - you gotta make the website first. Then when you make the website, you get the clients. Then when you get the clients, you make the money. Then when you get the money, you go to The Big Design Market and buy ALL THE THINGS. #scarface
Here is the heart scrap melt from yesterday. Now the dilemma? What should I make it into? 1. Dish or bowl. 2. Window hanging, sun catcher. 3. Display in a stand like the last photo. What do you all think? Let me know in the comments! 😀
Day 30 of the scrap glass challenge, and I am working with some pieces (top) I've had hanging around, along with some pot melts from earlier in the month (bottom right). The pieces at the top I decided to cut into strips and melt down, as they are each 1/2" thick and I wanted to work with some thinner material. We'll see how they look tomorrow. Three of the pot melts will become clocks, I think.
Day 20, and here is the lastest from a bar melt. Took a 12" scrap bar, cut into 1/2" chunks, then high temp fused to get it to flow together. Suggestions for what to make with this? It's 6" square. If I use your suggestion, you'll be entered into a drawing at the end of the month for one of my creations!
Day 18, and more pieces into the kiln for finishing. Bottom left is the cracked plate I rescued, and middle left is my Humpty Dumpty plate, successfully fused back together. Yay! The other pieces are from my pot melts late last week. Some cool stuff coming up in the next week or so!
Day 14 of the scrap glass challenge, and I am working on pot melts. Photo 1 is the set up. Shelf paper, stainless steel forms lined with fiber paper to keep the glass from sticking, and a base of clear glass in each one. Photo 2 is setting up the kiln furniture, which holds the pots filled with scrap. Last photo is all the pots loaded and ready to rock! The pots are fired to 1680F, and the molten glass drips through the holes on the bottom of each pot onto the base glass. This technique creates truly one of a kind pieces that will either be used as is, or incorporated into larger works. It will be approximately 36 hours before I can open the kiln, and see what I've made. Crossing my fingers and toes now, lol! Photos tomorrow of some completed pieces, and some that didn't quite work out. Thanks for joining me on my journey! Almost halfway there!
I am excited to share this cool and funky piece from yesterday's post, fresh from the kiln! Woohoo! Now what to make with it? Suggestions are most welcome, and if I use yours you will be entered into a drawing at the end of the month for one of my scrap glass creations!
Day 6 of the challenge, and I finally get to create with all of these components I've been working on. Played around with yesterday's kaleidoscope bar, and found I liked the top right. Bottom left I laid out the pattern first, then added the remaining glass (yes, it is all considered scrap, under 1 square foot), and my tray is ready for the kiln! Many thanks to @driftedseasons for suggesting the tray. You have now been entered into the drawing for one of my scrap creations at the end of this month!
Day 3 of the scrap glass challenge! Top photo is the scrap bars I made yesterday. Cut them on the wet saw, and arranged in a pattern I thought looked cool (bottom left). Placed in a dam mold, upside down to maintain the design. Haven't decided whether it should remain a 6" plate, or become a part of a much larger piece. Any thoughts?
Day 1 of the scrap glass challenge. Top two photos are chopped up glass, 3-4 layers, for an 8.5" bowl. Bottom left is a clear glass experiment. We'll see! Last photo is 4 projects going into the kiln for firing. The two square pieces are 90% scrap, but I started them a few days ago, so they won't count. Off to a pretty good start, I think!
These are photos of my overflowing bins and boxes full of scrap glass. As this makes my head hurt every time I enter my studio, I am officially declaring that the month of July will be the Scrap Glass Challenge! For this entire month, I will use only the scraps from these bins to create my glass art. I am counting on all of you to keep me honest, and will be posting progress photos as I go. If you have an idea for something you'd like to challenge me to create, post it in the comments below. If it's possible for me to make it (let's keep it realistic, lol!) your name will be entered in a drawing to receive one of my scrap glass creations at the end of the month! Let the challenge begin!
