Random or not so random question: How do you guys plan your makes? ✂ Do you use a sewing planner or notebook? Do you write down what you want to make that month/year and the fabrics you want to use? Do you use Pinterest or @thefoldline's site? I am struggling at the moment with so many ideas and fabrics, it is hard for me to choose and see what I really need in my wardrobe and avoid the "making without any sense" kind of thing 😌 Any tips? 🙋 (I consider the @colettepatterns Wardrobe Architect but don' think I would have the time... 😢) // ESP.
That midweek hustle has got me like...Just keep sewing, just keep sewing WHAT DO WE DO?! we SEW, SEW, SEW. Comment below the word you would replace "sew/sewing" with for your midweek grind! I'm curious how many different versions we can get with this 😂
Sometimes it takes me a crazy amount of time to get the hoop centered so it's juuuuuuuust right. I have very involved conversations in my head that go something like this....."Oh, it's fine, just let it go." (Pause.) "Nope! Try again." (Pause.) "Really, it will be fine." (Pause.) "But it's not in the center. Trust me, it will bother you the whole time you're stitching it. Just make it right." See? Its complicated inside my head. 😜 (Also, this kit is coming soon!)
Today, cutting into this perfect green @merchantandmills linen I picked up at @createdomesticity only yesterday. I always have a bit of a panic attack before cutting really expensive fabric, but I also trust my hands and have confidence in the process.
Just uploaded this fun fussy cutting Through the Window pattern to Payhip. Mini or cute cushion? It's currently only £2.50 till Sunday... ps. You DO NOT have to use Christmas fabric!!! ☀️ ☀️ 🎄😂 Link in profile!
Found this lovely blog post from @sewastraightline on how to make these comfortable + colorful (👍🏼👍🏼that's winning in my book!) pair of pants! Loving the 'Neon Summer Floral' print here, but you could use any of our 400+ fabric designs that are all pretty colorful!! I think I wanna sew up a pair to lounge in!! ✨😊🌈🌸🌼 Use our fabrics for fun or with your business? Got a project or products we can share? Shabby dress wall hanging completed...it looked so cute hanging outdoors with a little breeze running through it 🍃🎐 It's one of the longest I've ever made (over 22") with the skirt being created from an old fabric shower curtain...perfect texture for instant fullness 👍
There were a lot of lovely DIY projects at our wedding, but I think I'm most proud of my #seamworkcamden from @seamworkmag!
We got married outside, in Canada, in the dead of winter, so I needed something cozy! The cape was the third thing I'd ever made, and it was the pattern I was looking for (not a poncho cape- I wanted armholes ). I used a white coating fabric and lined it with flannel. Gold buttons tie in our wedding colours. I even used lace appliques on my shoulders from lace that came from my dress after alterations.
It was a lovely day, and I was kept toasty thanks to #seamworkmag
What wedding DIY sewing projects have you/would you take on?
Today is my birthday so apologies if my posts today and over the weekend aren't sewing related. So far it's been a lovely, relaxing morning. Loved all my presents (both sewing and non sewing related) and I'm looking forward to going out with my fiance later. 🎉
Mint dreams with his gorgeous scalloped edged eyelet from @thefabricexchange. Fresh off the sewing table! Box pleated skirt, side seam pockets with straight neckline. This one is for me. 😍 🍃#TheDressDiner#madetomeasure#vintagestyle
Day 22 of #ColourMyEveryDay is 'pottery'. I have quite a bit (a lot 😂!) of Polish pottery. It's great for everything and can even be put in the dishwasher and oven 👍! This pretty bowl sits on my desk and gets used for offcuts and bits of thread. A very pretty bin 😁!
