I'm getting hopelessly sucked into this yarn dying thing. So much fun. The two on the left(speckled and silver) were dyed to be paired together for an upcoming project. The one on the right was a big oops. The fushia staged a revolt and took over the skein. #yarndyeing#handdyedyarn#dyealltheyarn
#yarnlovechallenge Day 25, Drape: A Tale of Two Barley Hats! I knit the hat on the right a few years ago with a much smaller gauge (and my own hand-dyed #yarn ) The resulting fabric is stiff, but not necessarily bad. The hat on the left (made in dreamy #malabrigo ) is super drape-y and squishy. Both are nice, but they definitely wear differently!
I need help dear diy community: I dyed yarn by hand for the very first time and I'm not content with the result. 😫
After setting the color in the oven it looked so good (see first picture). Then I rinsed it in a water / vinegar bath and the blue color was bleeding a lot so the white parts of my yarn turned light-blue 😥
All I wanted was a light yarn with blue speckles.
Do you have a suggestion how to prevent the bleeding while rinsing and how to avoid the white parts getting dyed in the very end of my dyeing-process?
I hope anybody could help me 🙌
